New Forged 588 Wedges From Cleveland Golf

Almost 20 years ago Cleveland Golf created what is debatably one the best wedges designs in history. During their sales meeting Cleveland Golf announced that they would be resurrecting this club and bringing it back with vengeance. The new 588 wedges will be a forged updated version of the classic. Made from 1025 carbon steel for a soft yet solid feel. Of course Cleveland who last use “Year of The Wedge” as their theme will now be using “Forging A Better Future”. The wedges will come with Cleveland’s standard Tour Zip Grooves and a Laser Milled face. In a partnership with True Temper Cleveland created a special shaft for the 588 forged wedges. Said to have a unique stiffness with a less active tip, it’s a shaft that promotes piercing ball flight with better spin and distance control.

The 1st 588 wedge design has been a standard for Cleveland wedges over the decades and remains so today. With tour-proven wins it’s one of the best selling wedges of all time. Now coming back with new technology to grace another generation. Cleveland has been very good about updating fan favorites they recently re-launched one of their extremely successful hybrids, The Cleveland Mashie.

The new 588 forged wedge will come in 10 different lofts between 46-64 degrees with the option of a black pearl finish or high polish chrome. The release date of the 588 wedge is set for mid-Novemeber.

The Royal Golf Collection

The Royal Collection may not be a household name but in the golfing world equipment nuts still remember the name Sonartec. 7 years ago Sonartec licensed RC’s technology and broke into the U.S. golf market. Unfortunately through their efforts they were unable to sustain a golf club presence in the U.S. market.

The Royal Collection on the other hand was able to use their technology and see it work for some of the best Tour players in the world. Becoming popular on the European Tour after Todd Hamilton won the British Open, the collection was spotted being played by other various players. Their hybrids are the most common in golf circles both of Europe and Japan. Best known for their Driving Cavity Technology, which refers to the horseshoe shaped cavity on the sole of their golf clubs.

Ready to break back into the US market the Royal Collection packaged up a whole new line of golf clubs for their entrance. The new collection includes the JP104 series which entails a product line of drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids. The clubs of course promote their Driving Cavity Technology.

If your looking to buy any golf clubs from the Royal Collection has a great selection.

What New Golf Clubs Is Ping Rolling Out This Summer?

Ping’s product cycle is ready to introduce a new driver to their golf club line up. Ping recently announced the launch of their latest driver the G20. It made it’s formal debut at the FedEx St. Jude Classic this week. It has also been spotted everywhere on the internet here, here, and here. However, this club is also not available until late summer for the rest of us to purchase it.

What to expect from Ping’s new driver is their usual blend of forgiveness and power. Unlike Adams new driver the 9088, the G20 is heavier than it’s predecessor the G15. Using the idea that the greater force at impact the better the power shots will be. Extending the face of the driver for better forgiveness and a better launch area for off center hits.

Ping is a brand that has always stuck with the classics. While all the other manufacturers are our designing a putter collection of all shapes and sizes, Ping has stuck with a simplistic approach. Ping’s latest line of Anser putters goes back to the basics.

First off these putters have been machine milled from 303 stainless steel. With no gimmicks in sight, the putters don’t even have names they are only identified by numbers from 1 to 5 and the original only bears the name Anser. The Anser is a revamped copy from the original collection made in 1966.

Back to their classic styling, all 6 of the new putters are blades. The differentiation comes in the weighting and balance through the different configurations through the neck and hosel.

Aligning with their new iPING app all the putters will be put into 3 stroke categories: Straight, Slight Arc, and Strong Arc. These names correspond to the balance of each putter in the Anser line. Specifically, the degree of toe hang from each model. This will help golfers understand the putter balance and easily choose what type of putter best fits their stroke style.

The new Anser line of putters should arrive in retail stores August 11, 2011.

iPING App Perfect Your Putting

Ping is rolling out all the stops with their new equipment this golfing season. Not only are they adding a new driver and irons as we already reported but there also adding tech guru to their list of tricks. Always an innovator in the putter market they have taken it one step further by introducing the iPING app created just for you to help you with your putts. It’s a free app from the iTunes app store the only catch is you have to by their handy dandy clip for $30 that attaches to your putter. Key Features:

  • Measure Mode: captures putt
  • Practice Mode: Let’s you hone in on a particular putting skill you may need a little more help in such as stroke type, tempo, or impact angle.
  • Compare Mode: Always ratteling off that your better than Lee Westwood or your best friend Joe? Well know you can prove it. Evaluate yourself against your friends and other Ping Tour players.
This app does just about everything except pick out the perfect putter (although it does help significantly narrow down your choices. All in all for only $30 it’s a pretty good deal, some putting training aids cost a heck of a lot more than that.

Sold Titleist and FootJoy?

Looks like Adams wasn’t the only company looking for a new line of golf equipment (recently purchased Yes! Golf to expand their putter line). Acushent the golf company behind famed brands such as Titleist and FootJoy was sold today for a staggering $1.23 billion to Fila Korea Ltd.

Fila known for their footwear and apparel is already a big brand in the tennis world. Hoping to cross over into the golf venue they certainly have got a head start. Titleist is the best selling golf ball on the market along with great golf clubs and FootJoy is known for exceptional (and might we add comfortable) golf shoes.

Fortune Brands Inc. has been looking for a buying for over a year now trying to part with their golf division was in their strategic plan (they already have their brands in enough different market segments).

TaylorMade’s R11 Line

The time has come where TaylorMade has finally unveiled and finished up their R11 line. With an incredibly popular R11 driver (highly anticipated) comes the Fairway Wood. Separated by a few months of product launches we intend to set the record straight that the R11 Fairway is just as amazing as the R11 driver. The Fairway features the same Flight Control Technology as the Driver which allows players to adjust each one of their shots. This means that the adjustable sole changes face and launche angles. The most eye catching part of this fairway is the impressive all white non glare clubhead finish. That’s what’s not as impressive the adjustability and versatility is what really distinguishes this clubs above the rest. With the ability to adjust the club to either a neutral or closed face allows golfers the unique ability to shape their shots.

We’re not going to lie the fairway wood is just as impressive as the R11 driver. The adjustability is incredible, ball flights out of this world. If you are looking for a customizable fairway wood look no further. Staring at $299.9 check is out over at
